KATHMANDU, Dec 6: Israel has said that it is ready to welcome an additional 2,000 caregivers from Nepal.
Ambassador of Israel to Nepal Shmulik Arie Bass said that the caregivers have already been selected through a transparent process. He said that the caregivers selected through a lottery system from over 4,000 applicants will soon be travelling to Israel.

This is an addition to the 1345 Nepali caregivers who are currently working in Israel under the Government to Government (G2G) framework. “Recently, 1345 caregivers went to Israel [from Nepal] under the G2G framework agreement and 2000 more are in the pipeline,” said Ambassador Bass.
Ambassador Bas also informed that windows are open for discussions for Nepali nationals for employment in home-based care giving, agriculture and hospitality sectors in Israel. The envoy mentioned that since Israel is not in a position to provide employment to those hailing from Palestine due to the ongoing hostility, there is a scope of taking a large number of Nepali workers to Israel.
Israel is considered one of the lucrative destinations for Nepali workers. In addition to home-based employment such as caregivers, Nepali nationals also travel to Israel to work in agriculture and hospitality sectors.
More than 3000 youth farmers have received modern farming training in Israel under the Learn and Earn Program. Nepali students pursuing agriculture science travel to Israel every year, where they learn innovative agriculture practices while also making decent earning as a part of the Learn and Earn Program.
Addressing a group of journalists on Thursday, Ambassador Bass mentioned that Israel has been assisting Nepal on Human Resource Development under MAHASV Cooperation. More than 3500 Nepali professionals have been trained in Israel since 1960. “Israel is committed to continue extending its support to Nepal in various sectors like agriculture, health, community development, education, environment, tourism and others,” he added.
