KATHMANDU, Nov 17: Israel, which is an attractive labor destination for Nepalis, has said it is positive to create more employment opportunities for Nepali workers.


In a meeting with Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha on Tuesday, Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Hanan Goder said that Israel is ready to provide employment opportunities to Nepalis in other professional fields besides caregivers in the future.

According to the Ministry of Labor, Minister Shrestha urged the ambassador to initiate employment opportunities in professional sectors other than caregivers to Nepalis. Currently, about 12,000 Nepali workers are working in Israel. As per the labor agreement reached in 2020, Israel has provided employment to 1,175 Nepali citizens as support workers in Israeli long-term service centers.


Those who have passed the language test to go to Israel as ‘Caregivers’ are going to Israel for employment soon. Nepal is requesting Israel government to provide employment opportunities to the remaining 425 people on the roster as per the qualification system.
