ISME signs co-sponsorship deal<br/>TIA, Golden Peak to meet in final

KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) on Thursday signed a co-sponsorship agreement for the NSJF Pulsar Player of the Year 2065 with International Studies for Medical Education (ISME) Pvt Ltd and ISME Housing Pvt Ltd amidst a function in the capital. The award ceremony will be held on September 10. [break]



NSJF President Niranjan Rajbanshi and ISMI President and Chief Executive Officer Nagendra K Pumpety signed the co-sponsorship deal. ISMI will provide Rs 300,000 for the award.



The NSJF will provide awards in seven different categories -- Pulsar male, female and youth players of the year, Pulsar popular player of the year, Pulsar coach of the year, Pulsar special award and Pulsar lifetime achievement award. Earlier, Golchha Organization signed the main sponsorship deal worth Rs 550,000.





TIA, Golden Peak to meet in basketball final



KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Tungram International Academy (TIA) and Golden Peak set up the title clash under senior boys´ category in the Fourth Kwiks Greenland Inter-school Basketball Tournament being held at the host court Dhapasi.



In the semifinal match held on Thursday, TIA edged out Gyan Niketan 38-25 with eight points apiece from Prashant Tamang and Suman Magar. Similarly, Golden Peak beat Kathmandu Valley 37-36. Shankar Lama contributed 13 points for the Golden Peak.



In junior boys´ category, host Greenland and Deepjyoti will meet in the final. Greenland ousted Valley Public 24-11 riding on the four points each earned by Milan Puri and Pravin Thapa. Likewise, with 10 points from Bikash Pun Deepjyoti eased past Prithivi 16-7.





Sambota, LRI into quarters



KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Sambota and LRI sailed into the quarterfinals of the Fifth Monsoon Meet Basketball Tournament under senior boys´ category on Thursday.



Sambota, the group winner of group ´B´ defeated Penwood 71-60. However, Penwood secured place from same group as the runner up. In another match, LRI edged out Excelsior 66-43.



HIMS, Shuvatara, host Sridiwa and Ullens are the other teams to secure quarterfinal spots.
