IOC ups fuel supply by 500k liters a day

BARA, June 24: The Raxaul Depot of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) will start supplying additional 500,000 liters of fuel to Nepal starting Tuesday.



The Indian supplied had curtailed supply to Nepal from 2.4 million liters to 1.3 million liters seven months ago, citing maintenance works at the depot.

Mukunda Ghimire, chief of NOC´s Amlekhgunj depot, said Nepal will get 1.8 million liters of fuel from Raxaul depot from Tuesday. “IOC has assured us that it would gradually increase supply of petroleum products,” added Ghimire.[break]



After IOC´s Raxaul depot curtailed fuel supply to Nepal, NOC has been procuring fuel from IOC´s Barauni depot.

NOC has been using the 42-km long Amlekhgunj-Raxaul route to supply petroleum products to major cities like Birgunj, Janakpur, Kathmandu and Pokhara.
