Inaugurating the fourth edition of Nepal International Trade Fair 2015 in Kathmandu on Thursday, Minister Thapa said the country is in need of foreign market for its products rather than foreign assistance. “Despite having immense potential, our products are not getting access to foreign market. International community should help us in trade facilitation," he added.
The five-day event is being organized jointly by Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Ministry of Commerce and Supplies (MoCS).
Exhibitors from Bangladesh, the country partner for the event, said they were hopeful that the fair would play a crucial role in strengthening bilateral trade relationship between Nepal and Bangladesh.
Cooperation for trade
FNCCI President Pradeep Jung Pandey said the fair provides an opportunity for traders to brand their products and expand trade. "Local traders will showcase and promote the export of 19 products -- 12 goods and seven services -- identified by Nepal Trade Integration Strategy during the fair,” he added.
The event which is being organized with the slogan of 'Showcasing Nepal' has 340 stalls of different eight countries -- Bangladesh, India, China, Pakistan, Bhutan, Malaysia, Taiwan and Nepal.
Handicraft products, readymade garments, carpet, agro products, herbal and medicine products, among others, have been exhibited at the fair.
