According to the DPO, more than 200 socket bombs and other explosive materials were found in Thurpa forest, which is one hour trek from the cantonment. [break]
The army team had found the explosives hidden in a cave in the forest. A total of 265 socket bombs, 105 kilogram gun powder, two sacks of sockets and 650 pieces of iron pipe among other accessories used for making improvised explosive device were found by the security officials, reported the DPO.
Prior to the finding this stash of explosives, the Armed Police Force team on Tuesday had found 70 socket bombs and gun powders.
The NA team from its 19th Brigade in the district, which reached the place to dispose of the earlier found explosives, recovered more explosives in the cave, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Om Bahadur Rana.
Chief District Officer, Yadav Subedi conjectured that the explosive stash might have been hidden by the then Maoist rebels during the insurgency.
However, the explosive recovered on Tuesday have yet to be disposed. The Birgade office informed that the disposal task will be carried out as soon as it receives disposal order from the Army headquarters.
A dozen of security personnel have been providing security to the explosives in the forest as it has not been disposed of yet.
