The percentage of expecting mothers delivering at the health centers has increased by 73 percent, according to the District Health Office.
This has also brought down the maternal and infant mortality rate, said the chief of the office, Ramesh Malaysia.
Even women in the remote Ghaghal and Bogatan area of the district are coming to the health centers for delivery, said chairperson of the District Hospital, Doti Yagya Raj Joshi.
Meanwhile, public health inspector at the Shikhar municipality Harish Shah said attention should be paid to infrastructure development of the health centers rather than only beginning maternity services.
