Indo-Nepal joint military exercise ‘Surya Kiran’ begins at Uttarakhand

KATHMANDU, Sept 21: The 15th India-Nepal combined battalion level military training exercise ‘Surya Kiran’ commenced at Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, on Monday. The exercise will continue till October 3, 2021.

KATHMANDU, Sept 21: The 15th India-Nepal combined battalion level military training exercise ‘Surya Kiran’ commenced at Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, on Monday. The exercise will continue till October 3, 2021.


According to a statement issued by the Indian Army, an infantry battalion each from the Indian Army and the Nepal Army will be training together to develop inter-operability and share their experience of counter terrorism operations and disaster relief operations.

Earlier on Saturday, the Nepal Army contingent reached Pithoragarh and was accorded a traditional military reception. Around 650 defense personnel from both the armies are participating in the event.
