BAITADI, August 9: As cases of COVID-19 infection were detected on Indian tourists visiting Nepal via Jhulaghat border point in Baitadi district, the officials have prevented Indian tourists from visiting Nepal citing coronavirus infection.
Information officer at the Health Office at Baitadi Bipin Lekhak said four Indian nationals coming to visit Nepal tested positive for COVID-19 and were sent back to India. "We have started testing COVID-19 on Indians coming to visit Nepal and they have been sent back home in case they tested positive for the virus," Lekhak said.

Meanwhile, Baitadi district is at high risk of coronavirus infection since it shares a border with neighboring India. It is said that most Nepalis coming home via Jhulaghat border point are infected with the virus.
The Health Office confirmed that most of India-returnee Nepalis have tested positive for COVID-19 during their antigen test.
Currently, there are 31 active cases of coronavirus in Baitadi though there was not even a single case until three weeks ago.
