Indian national of Chinese origin arrested from TIA with a large sum of money

KATHMANDU, Oct 17: Police have arrested an Indian citizen of Chinese origin with a large sum of money from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

KATHMANDU, Oct 17: Police have arrested an Indian citizen of Chinese origin with a large sum of money from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).


Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police, Arjun Chand Thakuri who is the head of the TIA Security Office, said that the arrested person is Thinley Choden, who came from Sichuan Province of China.

According to him, he was arrested with 16,430 US dollars, 54,451 Chinese Currency ‘Yuan’ and 5,000 Indian rupees while he was on his way to Delhi from Sichuan Province of China. 


DIG Thakuri said that Choden has been living in Dharmasala in Dalila, India, and also had an Indian passport with him. It is said that the amount recovered by the police from Choden is equal to Rs 3,150,000.
