Indian leader Sitaram Yechury arrives in Kathmandu on five-day visit

KATHMANDU, Oct 25: General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Sitaram Yechury has arrived in Kathmandu at the invitation of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

KATHMANDU, Oct 25: General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Sitaram Yechury has arrived in Kathmandu at the invitation of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).


The NCP leaders welcomed the Yechuri-led Indian delegation at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday morning. Yechury, an old Nepal hand, will meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leaders during his five-day stay in Kathmandu.

According to a press release issued by the CPIM, Yechury will hold bilateral discussions with Nepali leaders during his visit. Apart from his political engagements, Yechury will be delivering speech at a talk program on 'Experience of Indian Communist Movement' to be organized by Pushpalal Smriti Pratisthan. According to NCP leader Yubaraj Chaulagain, the NCP will host dinner in honor of the visiting Indian leader today evening.


Yechury will be participating at a tea reception program to be hosted by the ruling NCP on the occasion of Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals coming Saturday in the capital. The Indian leader is accompanied by CPI (M) Central Committee member Jogendra Sharma. Wrapping up his Nepal visit, Yechury will return India on October 30.
