KATHMANDU, Jan 5: Visiting Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar made a spiritual stop at the revered Pashupatinath Temple on Friday morning.


Jaishankar’s visit to the iconic temple comes as part of his engagements in the Nepali capital.

The Indian foreign minister arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday morning to participate in the seventh edition of the Nepal-India Joint Commission meeting. During the commission meeting held on Thursday, Jaishankar engaged in discussions and conducted separate meetings with key political figures, including President Ram Chandra Poudel, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and other prominent leaders like Sher Bahadur Deuba and KP Sharma Oli.


In addition to diplomatic discussions, Jaishankar took a moment for spiritual reflection at the Pashupatinath Temple, a sacred Hindu site in Kathmandu, and engaged in plantation. The temple visit underscores the cultural and spiritual ties that connect Nepal and India.


Jaishankar who arrived in Kathmandu yesterday is set to return to India later this afternoon, concluding his brief yet significant diplomatic visit to Nepal.
