KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Indian Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi is arriving in Nepal today. He is visiting to receive the honorary COAS insignia of the Nepal Army.
On November 21, General Dwivedi will be conferred with the rank of honorary General of the Nepal Army by President Ram Chandra Paudel at a special ceremony to be held at the president’s office at Sheetal Niwas.
Indian army chief Dwivedi returns home
Since Nepal and India have a tradition of awarding the rank of COAS to each other’s army chiefs, the Indian army chief is arriving to receive this honorary rank.
Dwidevi is scheduled to stay in Nepal till November 24. During his stay, he will hold formal meetings with President Ram Chandra Paudel, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Defense Minister Manbir Rai and COAS Ashok Sigdel.
He will also visit Sainik Manch Tundikhel to pay homage at the Martyrs Memorial. Additionally, his schedule includes interaction with the students of the Command and Staff College, and a visit to the Paschim Pritana Headquarters.
Dwivedi was appointed as the Chief of the Indian Army on June 30, 2024.
