KATHMANDU, Oct 30: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is set to file a complaint regarding the behavior of supporters during the recent SAFF Women's Championship semifinal match between Nepal and India.

According to the Hindustan Times, the AIFF will formally address the issue with SAFF, as the match was halted for approximately 70 minutes due to disturbances caused by fans.

In a statement released on Monday, the AIFF noted, "The All India Football Federation has taken note of the incidents that happened during the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 semi-final in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Sunday, October 27, 2024. The AIFF will write to SAFF regarding the incidents and will take it up at the appropriate platform. The India U19 women’s team faced an almost similar situation in a SAFF tournament in the recent past (in Bangladesh last February), and the AIFF feels such things are not good for the development of football in the region.”

The semi-final match was interrupted for about one and a half hours when supporters expressed their frustration by throwing bottles after Bhutanese referee Om Choki disallowed a goal by Nepal. Throughout the match, Nepali supporters displayed their anger towards the referee’s decisions.
