India-returnee dies at check post in Dhanusha

DHANUSHA, May 27: A youth who recently arrived here from India has passed away at Jatahi check post in Dhanusha district at the Nepal-India border point.

LAHAN, May 27: A youth who recently arrived here from India has passed away at Jatahi check post along Nepal-India border in Dhanusha district. 


Birendra Kumar Yadav, 30, of Sahid Nagar Municipality-9 in the district breathed his last at around 3 am on Wednesday, according to Chief District Officer (CDO) of Dhanusha, Kosh Hari Niraula. “We came to learn that deceased Yadav was sick and he arrived here with the help of his younger brother, “ said CDO Niraula.

Late Yadav was among some 200 Nepali nationals who arrived at Jatahi Check Post from various parts of India. 


Officials said he breathed his last as preparations were being made to take him to Janakpur for treatment. Other Nepali nationals who are still living at Jatahi check-post have launched protests following the death of Yadav. 


Yadav’s dead body is still at Jatahi Check Post. “We’ll take the dead body to Janakpur-based Provincial Hospital, collect the swab samples for COVID-19 test and cremate mortal remains according to the lab report,” said CDO Niraula.
