DHANUSHA, Sept 23: Nine detainees have escaped from the District Police Office custody in Dhanusha.
The incident occurred between 3:30 am and 4:00 am on Monday, when the prisoners broke the ventilation of the male detention cell, according to DSP Ranjan Awa, spokesperson for the District Police Office.
The police have identified the fugitives as Amit Kumar Jha from Ward-20 of Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City, Ranjit Mandal and Roshan Kumar Mandal from Ward-7 of the former Gidha Municipality in Dhanusha, and Abhaskar Yadav from Ward-13 of Siraha Municipality.

Similarly, DSP Awa stated that the fugitives also include Bishal Mukhiya from Ward-2 of Aurahi Rural Municipality in Dhanusha, Sumit Mestar from Ward-1 of Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City, Manish Mandal from Ward-2 of Nagarain Municipality in Dhanusha, and Bikki Karki from Ward-4 of Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City.
“Out of the nine fugitives, Satyam Jha has been arrested from Janakchowk in Janakpur,” DSP Awa said.
The search for the remaining fugitives is ongoing, according to the police.
The escaped prisoners were being held on various charges, including drug offenses and indecent behavior.
There was a police officer on duty in the detention cell at the time of the escape.
The detainees managed to break the iron bars of the cell, according to the police.
A search operation has been underway since morning in various locations to locate the escaped prisoners.
