India provides vehicles for local polls

KATHMANDU, May 2: The Indian government on Monday provided logistical support to the Election Commission (EC) for the upcoming local level elections. 


Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri handed over different kinds of vehicles to the Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav during a function held at the EC headquarters. The vehicles include 35 double-cabin pickups, seven Scorpio jeeps, four Sedan cars, one XUV car, one minibus, one microbus, 30 motorcycles and seven scooters worth Rs 89.17 million.

During the function, Indian envoy Puri congratulated the EC on its extensive preparations to hold the upcoming local level polls in a free and fair manner. On behalf of the Indian government and people of India, he wished for the success of the election.  


CEC Yadav thanked the people and the government of India for the support for the election. The EC informed that it would use the vehicles in different parts of the country during the election.
