India fails to heed our request to lift blockade: Koirala

KATHMANDU, Oct 24: India failed to heed our request to lift its unofficial blockade imposed in our country despite our repeated efforts, former prime minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala said on Saturday.

Addressing parliament the former PM recalled that India had repeatedly denied any involvement in the blockade and rather blamed agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF)."India has repeatedly said it is not involved in blockade," he added, "We had even assured on security in Nepal territory."

Koirala also requested the government to resolve present Madhes crisis at the earliest.

"The government should address the UDMF's demands at the earliest which can only end the present crisis," he said.
