Talking to media persons after the meeting, Ambassador Prasad said that he congratulated the new government and its members on behalf of the Government of India.[break]
He said that the Government of India was ready to provide necessary support to hold the new Constituent Assembly (CA) election.
Ambassador Prasad informed Chairman Regmi that India is for free and fair elections and wants that lasting peace be established after promulgation of a new constitution.
He told media that he also assured Chairman Regmi that India would provide technical and other assistance needed for the election.
On the occasion, Chairman Regmi expressed gratitude for the congratulation to the new government extended by the Government of India and said that free and fair election was the first priority of the government, Press Advisor to Regmi, RP Pandey, quoted Regmi as saying.
Regmi said that further discussion would be held after consultation with the EC about the technical support of India for the election.
