Indefinite strike hits Dhaulagiri life

MYAGDI, Dec 25: Normal life in the three districts --- Myagdi, Baglung and Parbat --- of Dhaulagiri zone has been hit hard due to banda for the indefinite period called by Federation of Nepal Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Dhaulagiri Chapter.



The banda or strike was called to give pressure to release the business entrepreneurs, who were arrested with Indian currency notes banned in Nepal.[break]



Long and short distance transport services have been disrupted due to banda.



Police arrested Jagat Gupta, 40, of Raxaul of India and Hira Lal Karna of Chhapkaiya VDC-3 of Parsa district with Indian Rupees (IRS) 332,000 from Ramrekha of Baglung Municipality-1 Thursday. Nepal banned the transaction of Indian currency note 500 and 1,000 since last few years.



According to zonal representative of the chapter Pramod Kumar Shrestha, the chapter called banda to give the local administration pressure to release the arrested business entrepreneurs as entrepreneurs of Birgunj stopped supplying goods to protest the their colleagues’ arrest.



The local entrepreneurs said their business activities have been affected after the Burgunj based entrepreneurs stopped the supply.



The chapters also put seven-point demand for well managed transaction of Indian currency note, proper management of liquor, end of monopoly in Beni-Jomsom road section.
