They also held out a rally and submitted their demand to the District Administration Office. According to Damodar Acharya, the president, the closure will continue until Rastogi is freed.
“We shut down the market for pressuring government on industrial security after a few cases of abduction of businessmen,” Acharya told during the meeting with civil society.
Rastogi was abducted from a place near the Dreamland Hotel on June 22 and has not been released yet despite his family giving a ransom of Rs. 700,000 to the abductors, according to Rastogi’s father Murari Krishna.
The abductors who contacted the family using a mobile phone told them that the businessman would be released in two hours after the ransom reached the destination. The family gave the ransom four days ago.
“There are no more phone calls and the mobile used to contact us is switched off,” Rastogi’s father said.
The Chamber of Commerce accused police of not going forward with investigation in the issue.
