KATHMANDU, Sept 28: The continuous heavy rainfall has severely disrupted electricity supply in most areas of the Kathmandu Valley, causing widespread power outages.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) reported that the damage to transmission and distribution infrastructure has impacted multiple regions.

According to the NEA, half of the Kathmandu Valley has been affected, with key areas like Baneshwar, Godavari, Imadol, and Lubhu and Chyasal in Lalitpur experiencing outages. Power supplies from the Bhaktapur substation have also been disrupted, affecting Khopasi, Nalinchowk, and Bode areas.
Likewise, substations in Patan have been hit hard, disrupting power supply to Khumaltar, Satdobato, Godavari, Hattiban, Chapagaun, and other areas. The Lainchaur substation has stopped supplying electricity to Kirtipur, Tahachal, Kalimati, and Chakrapath.
Furthermore, power cuts have been reported in Hadigaun, Kalanki, Balaju, and several other areas due to rising water levels and submerged transmission lines.
