NEPALGUNJ, April 1: Rafting, an adventurous water sport, has been started in the Rapti River from Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality Ward 1 of Banke Kusum Bariya to Agaiya since Friday.
The tourism division office, Banke, has started rafting in collaboration with Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality. The adventure sport was inaugurated by Lumbini Province’s Tourism, Rural and Urban Development Minister Dilli Chaudhary.
Along with the inauguration, Minister Chaudhary, chief of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality Lahuram Tharu, Deputy Chairperson Dhani Kumari Khatri, Tourism Division Office Banke Chief Madhav Gyawali, Member of the Lumbini Provincial Planning Commission Dr Damodar Bhusal, tourism worker Gehendra Kumar Khadka and others participated in rafting.
The distance of rafting from Kusum Baria to Agaiya is about 27 kilometers. Minister Chaudhary said that the adventurous sport has been started to promote tourism, create employment opportunities and promote internal and external tourism.
