KATHMANDU, Jan 11: The 301st Prithvi Jayanti and National Unity Day was celebrated by placing floral wreaths on the statue of the late King Prithvi Narayan Shah in front of the Singha Durbar in Kathmandu.
Appreciating the contribution of the late king, Prithvi Jayanti was celebrated on Wednesday in various cities of the country as well by offering garlands and bouquets to his statues.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari and other leaders and the general public were present at the wreath laying program on Wednesday. The government has also announced a public holiday on Wednesday on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti.

Hundreds of people from various walks of life holding the national flags of Nepal gathered around the late King Prithvi Narayan Shah’s statue in front of Singha Durbar.
Indigenous people decked up in their traditional attires carried out cultural parades to mark the occasion.
