KATHMANDU, Sept 26: A group of youths have staged a demonstration in Kathmandu demanding justice to a 12-year-old Samjhana Kami from Bajhang district in Far-western Nepal. She was murdered after rape a few days ago.
In the protest organized by the United Dalit Youths Struggle Committe at Maitighar on Saturday afternoon, the participants demanded stringent punishment against the perpetrators involved.
The participants carried placards that read “Hang the rapist to death”, “Ensure rule of law”, “Justice for Samjhana”, and “Love me, but not rape” in a bid to exert pressure on the government to launch a thorough investigation into the case and take stringent action against the culprits involved in the heinous crime.
Samjhana, who was living under the guardianship of her grandfather, was found dead at a temple nearby her house. Preliminary investigation of police indicated that she must have been killed after rape.
