KATHMANDU, Mar 20: Three student unions affiliated to three major political parties protested in front of Maitighar Mandala and called for an indefinite educational strike from Sunday if their demands are not to be fulfilled.

CPN-UML-aligned All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Students Union (NSU) and CPN-Maoist Centre-affiliated All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNNISU-R) have urged the government to scrap the ninth amendment in the Education Act that provisions 75 per cent reservation to temporary teachers in examinations of the Teachers Service Commission.

They have also urged to postpone the TSC exams until their demands are met. The examination is scheduled for next week Friday.

A joint press statement issued by the three students ’ unions accused the government of turning a deaf ear to their pleas despite four days fast-unto-death protest.
