Bharat Khatiwada, president of Kalimati Vegetable Wholesalers´ Association, said significant rise in vegetables production in major supplying district has boosted supplies of vegetables in the market leading to drastic drop in prices.
“As vegetables are highly perishable, farmers don´t store them for long and sell them whatever price they get. This is one of the reasons behind drop in prices,” said Khatiwada. “Prices are expected to come down at least for a month as this happens to be the harvesting season of many vegetables.”
