Soon after, cell phones started ringing in this part of the world, Khetan got himself an ordinary Nokia set but when Nokia introduced its big black communicator, he could not stop himself from getting one.“It had internet access, you had an opportunity to stay online almost all the time, you could fix your schedules in your phone and you could write anything on it. It simplified my daily schedule and as a result I am able to deliver more to my business,” Khetan highlighted how Nokia’s communicator, which he bought for Rs 25,000, helped him enhance the way he works.
But that was not enough for him as we will see. With new models being introduced one after the other, in no time, he got himself Nokia’s E-Series E71 and E51, which according to him uses the same software like that of a Nokia Communicator but is more user friendly.
These interesting mobile sets also have a Wi-Fi and an expanded memory space of more than 8GB. Also, he uses HTC’s CDMA set for better connection access in places where the network is comparatively poor.
If anything else than mobile phones, Khetan loves to sneak at the new model of laptops and makes sure that he owns one with the best features. No wonder he uses Toshiba’s laptop at his home while for official works he uses HP’s Tablet PC.

“Can you believe it, you can handwrite on it. This means, I can write on my laptop with a pen like I’m writing on paper and can do all the required signatures on the important documents. You can ever twist the screen as you like it to make it more users friendly. This special laptop has made things so comfortable to me. Now, I don’t need to come to my office all the time to sign the papers,” he unveiled. “It cost me Rs 90,000 and it’s truly worth it.”
Besides his knack for cell phones and laptops, Khetan is equally in love with his new purchase – a BNS Stereo System, which he brought home from Denmark for USD 500. “The magic that it creates” through its speakers which is made up of ceramic and rubber is what he calls absolutely fascinating.
Though Khetan confesses that he is not that fond of wearing wrist watches, he however could not get hold of one of the designs of Rolex and got it for himself no matter how expensive it was.
Now, he is eagerly waiting for Nokia’s N97 to come to the town because it’s a combination of Communicator, E-Series and also has PDA facility. In his own words, N97 is “an exceptionally built mini laptop that has full Windows’ compatibility.
“I often look for such gadgets which needs a brain to put. I need gadgets to share whatever is in my mind than just for the luxury statement,” he added.
He concluded with a thought that gadgets are no more for luxury now; they have rather become a necessity for people and without them economic activities are almost impossible in today’s mobile generation.
“With me, I’m too crazy about gadgets to gift it to anyone. However, I’d love to receive them,” he smiled.
