TAPLEJUNG, Nov 26: Ethnic identity advocates staged a demonstration displaying black flags in front of CPN-UML Secretary and House of Representatives Member Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai's residence in Phungling, Taplejung.
During the demonstration, there was a clash between them and the Yuwa Sangh. The identity supporters reached Parajuli Chowk and held a corner meeting, chanting slogans.
The protesters expressed dissatisfaction with Member of Parliament Bhattarai and former minister Til Kumar Menyangboo Limbu for endorsing the nomination of Koshi Province.

They accused MP Bhattarai of making anti-identity statements in the House of Representatives on June 6 and demanded a correction of such expressions.
Bhattarai, through social media, has demanded attention from the Prime Minister and Home Minister to prevent attacks on leaders, including the chairman of his own party, which occurred a few days ago. He has sought an investigation to identify and take action against those responsible and has said that he had no intention of offending the identity supporters.
In celebration of Dasain, Tihar, Chhath, Chasok Tangnam, Undhauli Ubhauli, and Lhosar festivals, CPN-UML Taplejung organized a tea reception on Sunday with representatives from Taplejung and parliamentarians representing the provincial assembly.
Along with Bhattarai and Menyangboo, MP Urmila Thebe is also scheduled to hold a tea reception. A few days ago, the identity supporters held a press conference and declared that their struggle for the identity-based naming of Koshi Province continues.
