KATHMANDU, March 19: Him Electronics launched a new mobile brand, Ark, in the Nepali market last month. The company has launched phones in three segments -- high-end, mid-range and entry level.

Available at Rs 11,490, Ark Icon R45 is a mid-range phone with attractive features. It is powered by 1.3 GHz quad core processor and 512 MB RAM. It has a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS display, 5 MP rear camera and 1.3 MP front camera. It runs on Android 4.4.5 KitKat OS.

"As Ark is a Nepali brand, we have tried to make affordable handsets targeting local customers," Abhishek Thakur, business head of Him Electronics said. "Icon R45 has all the features available in its range but in comparatively lower price."

The phone has dual-SIM feature which allows users to use two SIMs. It operates on both 2G and 3G network. Icon R45 is loaded with common features like GPRS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and FM Radio, among others. It is powered by a 1,500mAh battery.

"It's a big challenge to establish a new brand in the market crowded with phones from all over the world. The Nepali smartphone market is small. But we have long term plans. We don't want to be just another brand in the market," added Thakur.
