KATHMANDU, Oct 11: International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) has demanded that government should ensure accountability for the thousands of human rights violations executed by security forces and Maoists during the insurgency as per the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights (OHCHR) report.

"This sobering report chronicles the devastating human impact of the human rights and humanitarian law violations that continue to burden the victims and their families," the press statement issued on Thursday said quoting Sam Zarifi, ICJ´s Asia director. [break]

The ICJ has also condemned the recent promotion of Kuber Singh Rana to IGP of the Nepal Police as he has been implicated by the Supreme Court in decisions ordering full investigation of their culpability.
