He claimed to establish the identity of Siraha district at the national level once he is elected from Siraha constituency-5 in the November elections.[break]
"I chose to run from this district with a view to establish the identity of Madhes in the national politics," Dahal said while addressing an election rally here Friday. "Once I become prime minister if not president, my first job will be to establish the identity of Siraha and overall Madhes."
He spent some 45 minutes at Jamdaha, Todke and Muksar VDCs while interacting with local voters.
As Dahal was in the district, two bombs along the roadside at Muksar VDC-3 and one more socket bomb at Chautal were found. Later a bomb disposal team of the Nepal Army defused the three explosives. Dahal began his election campaign only after the security personnel defused the bombs.
According to UCPN (Maoist)´s Siraha coordinator Ajay Kumar Nayak, Dahal is scheduled to give continuity to his door-to-door campaign in the district on Saturday as well.
Meanwhile, Dahal has tried to assure victims of the Koshi barrage of providing them compensations if his party secured majority in the coming elections.
"A stable and strong government has become imperative for the country. If we secure a majority, our party will try its best to address the problems of Koshi victims," Dahal said while addressing a gathering held at Sunsari constituency-6 on Friday. He claimed that his party would always work for the victims.
He said that it would be a mistake on the part of the voters if they don´t give clear majority to a single political party. "Since 1950, no government has succeeded to complete its full term. Now the people should give a majority to a single political party for political stability in the country," he further explained.
Government statistics show that Koshi River has eroded 160,000 hectares of fertile arable land in and around Prakashpur, Mahendranagar and Barahakshetra.
