The much-talked Melamchi project has been on hold after the Melamchi Drinking Water Project scraped the contract with the Italian CMC Company.

“I am trying my best to complete the project work on time,” the minister said, adding, “If we award the remaining work to a new company, the construction work will be further delayed. I am trying to bring the CMC Company back into the work to complete the work in the stipulated time.”

On February 7 this year, the government officially scrapped the contract awarded to the company.

The Melamchi Water Drinking Development committee said that it would have to bear the risk of losing the bank guarantee if the company had not scrapped the contract.
