KATHMANDU, Feb 19: Development Committee at Parliament directed the government to double the percentage of the budget allocated for road construction in future.

Arguing that the government has been investing less than three percent of the gross domestic production (GDP), the committee meeting on Sunday directed the government to increase the investment in roads construction.

Likewise, the committee directed the government and concerned authorities to conduct a detail study within the ongoing fiscal year to find out what parameters should be set for road construction and what target should be set.

The committee also directed the government, concerned ministries and agencies to establish coordination in road construction and to end administrative hurdles in the construction process.
