"We will summon the next session after the major political parties reach an understanding on the outstanding issues," the prime minister said at a function organized by CPN-UML Kathmandu chapter on Saturday.[break]
He said the government would talk to the Maoist leaders after they return to the capital from their party plenum being held in Palungtar, Gorkha. Nepal said he would also hold talks with the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML leaders, among others, in a bid to reach an understanding.
The prime minister said the government has received mixed reactions and responses over the introduction of the annual budget through ordinance.
Govt to form a panel on Nepal Sambat
While addressing a gathering of Newar communities at Basantapur Durbar Square on Saturday, the prime minister said the government will form a committee to study various aspects related to Nepal Sambat.
"We were about to announce it but we couldn´t do it due to our busy schedules during the festive season. We will form the committee soon," he said.
UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, addressing the same gathering, stressed on the need for making Nepal Sambat more popular among the common populace.
"It has already been given the status of a national calendar. Now it needs to be made popular among the common people," Khanal said. He urged the government to formulate a national policy on using official calendars saying use of various sambats [calendars] had created confusion among the people.
