KATHMANDU, Dec 19: The meeting of the Legislature-Parliament has been postponed till Thursday following obstruction from Opposition lawmakers.

Before the start of today’s session, Parliamentary Party Leader of Nepa Rastriya Party, Laxman Rajbanshi demanded with the government to withdraw the constitution amendment bill.

He argued that the bill will invite more problems rather than solving the existing ones. As soon as his speech ended, all lawmakers from the Opposition stood from their seats to obstruct the House.

Then, Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar announced that the meeting of parliament has been postponed till 1 pm Thursday.

Earlier today, Speaker Gharti Magar had held a meeting with the top leaders of the major political parties in a bid to lift the obstruction. During the meeting, UML leaders told the Speaker that they won’t let the House run unless the government withdraws the constitution amendment bill.
