KATHMANDU, April 8: The parliament couldn´t enter into its regular business Wednesday as well after the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) and Nepali Congress lawmakers boycotted the meeting.

UML lawmaker Ramji Sharma said his party decided to boycott the parliament meeting as the Maoist failed to arrest the main accused in the killing of UML cadre Prachanda Thaiba. Sharma said the Maoist instead of handing him over to the authorities chose to protect him. "The UML has taken the Maoist´s reluctance in handing over the criminal to police very seriously and decided to boycott the parliament," said Sharma.

Similarly, NC lawmaker Sobhakar Parajuli accused the Maoists of promoting the culture of violence. He said the Maoist party has failed to implement any of its promises. "Until the Maoists implements past commitments, we don´t see any point in participating in the parliament session and decided to boycott," he said.

Speaker Subash Nemwang following the boycott by the NC and the UML announced adjournment of the house till April 11.
