KATHMANDU, May 31: The parliament meeting on Sunday was adjourned till Tuesday after a boycott by the Maoist lawmakers.

Maoist lawmakers boycotted the meeting immediately after Maoist chief whip Post Bahadur Bogati addressed the House. Following the boycott, speaker Subas Nembang announced the adjournment.

"We boycott the meeting for shoring up democracy and for making the parliament a sovereign body in true sense," Bogati said.

The Unified CPN (Maoist) decided to continue protests in the House against the speaker´s decision to reject the resolution motion from entering the parliament. The Maoist party proposed the motion against President Dr Ram Baran Yadav´s move reinstating the army chief. The Maoists have also announced nationwide protests against the speaker´s decision.
