During the monitoring of Basera Hotel in Babarmahal, it was found that water was being sold at a higher price than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP). According to the DCSCP, both hotels have been fined for conducting business practices contrary to consumer interests.

The DCSCP has increased monitoring as Nepal’s major festivals are approaching. The DCSCP said that a total of 39 firms were monitored on Monday alone.

A few days ago, the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) sent a circular to over 300 hotels about an agreement with the government that there would be no monitoring from the DCSCP. Following the circular being made public through the media, the DCSCP has increased its aggressive monitoring.
