Comparatively taller and stronger players of the GAA lead first quarter by three points with 12-9 score and continued with their domination until the last quarters. Prime, with the attempt to return in the match held the hosts to an 8-8 draw in the second quarter but in overall they were still back by three points.
Again, Prime lost the third quarter by one point with 6 -7 score. Similarly, in the final set too they were downed 9-6 to surrender against the hosts. The hosts who took much height advantage came up with good defending and dribbling. GAA scored single three pointers, while Prime netted the three pointers thrice.
Emily Roche of the host emerged hero in the victory of host the host GAA as she scored 10 valuable points. She was later adjudged the most valuable player of the tournament. For Prime, Gyanu Gauchan netted the highest 11 points but it was not sufficient for the victory. Gyanu Gauchan of Golden Gate got the highest scorer award with 52 points in her account.
The winner and the runner up teams were awarded with the trophies, medals and certificates.
School chess from Oct 4
KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Kaski District Chess Association is organizing the First Inter-school High School Level Chess Tournament in Pokhara from October 4-7.
Altogether 80 students from 40 different schools will participate in the tournament. The tournament will be held in the Swiss League format until seventh round.
Arbiter seminar completes
KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Seventeen chess arbiters including an Indian and 16 Nepalis have got norms for FIDE Arbiters. The arbiters got the norms following success in the arbiter seminar being held at Dhulikhel from September 19-24.
The seminar was conducted by Asian Chess Federation vice president Kasto Abundo and Indian International Arbiter Dharmendra Kumar.
