An all-round performance by Bibhav Raj Joshi helped defending champion Thames beat College of Applied Business (CAB) by 10 runs in the opener. Similarly, Universal College registered a thumping 66-run win over Public Youth Campus in another match. Both the teams have secured quarterfinal spots.[break]
Put into bat first, Thames scored 116/6 and restricted CAB to 106/8 in the allotted 20 overs. Pujan Shrestha top-scored with 35 runs for Thames while Bibhav Raj Joshi (22), Sagar Malla (19) and Akash Shrestha (8) also contributed for the host. Ashok Acharya claimed the highest three wickets for CAB while Rohit Bhattarai and Suvash Timalsina took two and one wicket respectively.
In the run chase, Sunil Kumar Sharma scored the highest 46 runs for CAB but could not prevent defeat. Rohit Bhattarai (13), Sushil Gautam (11) and Pratik Sah (8) were the other contributors for CAB. Man-of-the-match Bibhav Raj Joshi claimed four wickets for Thames while Praitk Basnet claimed two.
In another match, opting to bat first, Universal scored 147/8 and bowled out Public Youth for 81 runs in 15.5 overs. Bibek Shrestha was the topscorer for Universal with 37 runs, followed by Bishal Basnet (26), Rupesh Chalise (14) and Shiva Basyal (12). Tikaram Dahal of Public Youth claimed three wickets while Suman Bhattarai and Sheetal Mainali got two wickets each.
In reply, Sheetal Mainali scored 20 runs for Public Youth, while Rabin Koirala made 14 and Suman Bhattarai added 11. Man-of-the-match Bhimarjun Paudel claimed three wickets while Kiran Nepal and Nikunj Parek took two wickets each.
Everest College will meet KIST College and Campion will lock horns with DAV on Saturday.
