CHITWAN, Aug 6: Manakamana Hospital in Chitwan district has compensated over Rs 2.7 million to the family of a woman who died in the hospital.
Nabina Mahato, 35, of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-26, died in the wee hours on Saturday while undergoing treatment. On Thursday, Mahato was taken to the hospital for abortion. But she died at around 1.00 am on Saturday due to excessive bleeding, claimed the deceased’s spouse Manik Lal.
Following the death of Mahato, the family and relatives encircled the hospital in protest since Saturday morning. They had demanded compensation that the hospital should accept their fault in the death of Mahato. They had also warned that they would not receive the body until their demand was met.
Following an agreement, the hospital handed a cheque amounting to Rs 2.7 million to the family of the deceased on Saturday itself, said the hospital.
