HoR passes Appropriation Bill

KATHMANDU, June 23: The session of House of Representatives (HoR) of Tuesday has endorsed the 'Appropriation Bill-2076BS' with a majority of votes. Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada presented the proposal before the meeting, seeking the endorsement of the bill. Besides, the meeting passed three proposals tabled by the Finance Minister, seeking considerations over the 'Economic Bill- 2076 BS'; 'Bill to Mobilize Internal Loan-2076 BS'; and the 'Bill related to loan and securities (third amendment)- 2076 BS'.

In his response to queries raised by the Lower House members in regard with three bills, the Minister said tax was applied in service, but the issues concerning the rate of tax could be discussed. "The proposal to take debt is for infrastructure development and capital expenditure. The ceiling of internal debt remains within the limits of acceptance," he said. In the meeting, lawmakers questioned the line minister why the tax rate was increased to trouble the people, instead of escalating its scope.

Prior to this, the meeting refused the proposals to cut off budget under several headings related to various ministers put forth by Durga Poudel, Prem Suwal, Dibyamani Rajbhandari, Rangamati Shahi, Minendra Prasad Rijal, Rajendra Kumar KC, Min Bahadur Bishwakarma, Uma Regmi Sujata Pariyar, Satya Narayan Sharma Khanal, Gagan Kumar Thapa, Laxmi Pariyar, Bahadur Singh Lama Tamang, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Narayan Khadka, Dila Sangraula, Sanjay Kumar Gautam, Gyanendra Kumar Karki, Devendra Raj Kandel, Bijay Kumar Gachhadar and Parbata DC Chaudhary.

The Lower House shall meet again at 4:00 pm on June 28.
