Leena Sharma Regmi, chairman of Bindabasini Music Company, shared, “We came up with a music award to acknowledge the artists who have worked very hard to produce brilliant masterpieces and confer a token of appreciation on those who have been ahead of the pack and won everybody’s heart.”[break]
The award had 29 categories and a total of 140 nominees. The basis of selecting the winners was the aggregate marks obtained by the artist from the panel of judges, the organizing committee, the most popular songs tuned as CRBT/PRBT and public vote.
Before the ceremony, Dipesh Bhattarai, one of the nominees, opined, “I am extremely happy to be nominated. I have a tint of hope that I may win but more than that I am excited because it’s a musical gathering. I won’t be disheartened even if I don’t win since some artist is going to win and it’s music winning after all.”
The award ceremony granted The Lifetime Achievement Award to Bhajansiromani Bhakta Raj Acharya.
Bal Garera by Lyricist Bipin Kiran was declared the Best Song of the Year while Timile Parai Thane Pani was adjudged as the Most Popular Song of the year.
Anurodh 2 of Umanand Gautam won the award for the best album of the year. Sajal Neupane received the title of the Best New Artist and Satya Raj Acharya and Junu Rijal Kafle bagged the award for Best Male and Female Contemporary Singers respectively.
Hemanata Rana’s got the Best Pop Singer=Male for his song Laija re and Durga Kharel was declared the Best Pop Singer-Female for her song Kina Kina Timilai.
Chupchap by Shreya Sotang and Swarup Raj Acharya was honored as the Best Duet of the Year.
Rojina Rimal received the Best Playback-Female award alongside Acharya who won the title of the Best Playback-Male.
