KATHMANDU, March 2: Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, is being celebrated across the Tarai region on Friday, amidst much fanfare and merrymaking. The festival is considered as the most important festival in the region after Chath.
People from various communities coming down to their neighborhoods and streets are celebrating Holi smearing colors and spraying waters on one another all throughout the region including the major towns cities of the region.

The local administration has set up special security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident during the Holi celebrations.
The festival has been taken as an occasion to promote goodwill among people from different communities of the Tarai region.
Tarai region celebrates the Holi festival a day after the hilly region observed it.
The government has announced a public holiday in the region.
