"As the dispute over the government recommendation to give amnesty to Dhungel has been intensifying, we urged the prime minister to hold discussion with political parties, who are opposing the government move, to settle the issue," General Secretary of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Republican (MPRF-R) Atmaram Sah told Republica after Sunday´s meeting of UDMF.

He said that Madhesi leaders are of the view that if the case against Dhungel is withdrawn, the government should also withdraw cases filed against Madhesis after the Madhes movement.

According to Rameshwor Ray Yadav, Senior vice-chair of MPRF-D, the meeting also decided to push for tabling the Inclusion Bill in the parliament and ask the government to initiate the process of recruiting Madhesi youths into the Nepal Army.

Similarly, the meeting urged the government to address the problem of citizenship in Tarai. Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar at the meeting assured that his ministry will take initiatives to address the problem of citizenship within a couple of days.
