HMPV, which spread in China, reaches India

The Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), which spread in China, has reached India. Indian media report that Bengaluru has found the first case of the infection.

KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), which spread in China, has reached India. Indian media report that Bengaluru has found the first case of the infection.


The infection was detected in an eight-month-old girl.

The state's health department confirmed the detection of the HMPV through tests conducted at the hospital's laboratory. The Karnataka Health Department has informed the central government about the case.
