HIV infected increasing in Rutahat

RAUTAHAT, Oct 16: The number of HIV/AIDS infected people in Rautahat district is 49, according to a local non-governmental organization working in the prevention of HIV and AIDS.



Speaking in a program organized by the Arunodaya Youth Club, Asmin Hari Bhattarai, coordinator of the District AIDS Coordination Committee, said that so far 49 HIV-infected people have publicly declared that they have HIV.[break]



Program officer of Save the Children, Dil Bahadur Khadka, said that 34.2 million people throughout the world are infected with HIV.



It was stated in the programme that the number of HIV-infected people in Nepal is 19,118. However, different NGO working in this sector have claimed that the number of HIV-infected people in the country is 50,100.
