KATHMANDU, April 16: Himalaya Airlines has started a chartered flight service from Kunming Changshui International Airport in China to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu from April 13, 2023.

Himalaya Airlines' H9 785 Airbus A320-214 landed 180 Chinese tourists at Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday and expects to welcome 700 more passengers through upcoming chartered flights from Kunming to Kathmandu.

The flights are aimed at increasing the arrival of Chinese tourists in Nepal after the three-year ban following the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic. The Himalaya Airlines has said that it is an important step to start Nepal's first chartered flight from China to Nepal and bring Chinese tourists into Nepal.

Airline Vice President Vijay Shrestha thanked the Chinese and Nepali government officials for helping to make the chartered flight a success. He said that this is an important step towards strengthening the diplomatic relations between Nepal and China.
