Directed by Rick McFarland, the film also features Suesha Rana, Gunner Wright, Rachel Hurd-wood, and Deshbhakta Khanal among others. 'Highway to Dhampus' deals with the story of how a British woman reaches Dhampus in course of her visit to Nepal and what changes the visit brings to her own life and that of other characters.Actor Koirala, via social media, remarked that the film was well received by audience as well as filmmakers in the festival.
"Highway to Dhampus was loved for both its subject matter and presentation. This is not only good for the producers of the film, but since majority of the film has been shot in Nepal, it has put our country in a good light," said Koirala.
Before being screened at the film festival, charity shows of Highway to Dhampus was held in various parts of the US to collect fund for the earthquake victims of Nepal. "We have collected about Rs 500,000," informed Koirala.
The actor has also been associated with an organization called Mind the Gap, which is trying to organize charity shows of the film in Australia and Canada to support earthquake victims here.
From his own pocket, Koirala has thus far donated Rs 83,000 in two installments.
"I handed over Rs 55,000 to Bibeksheel Nepali, and Rs 28,000 to Hamri Bahini in Pokhara. I've been trying to collect more money," he shared.
Koirala is travelling to Spain to participate in Madrid Film Festival in June, and said he'll also try to raise some fund there.
Highway to Dhampus that was scheduled to release in Nepal next month has been postponed for now.
